Pregnancy and Induction Acupuncture

Pregnancy is a time of incredible change, and while it can be an exciting journey, it can also bring new challenges. At Kate Dambach Acupuncture in Burleigh Heads, we provide gentle, supportive care to help women navigate each stage of pregnancy. Rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), acupuncture is commonly used throughout pregnancy to support well-being and help manage a range of symptoms. Induction acupuncture is also frequently utilized to support the body's natural readiness for labor.

Acupuncture is a gentle and natural therapy that focuses on restoring balance in the body. Each treatment is personalized to your individual needs and designed to complement conventional prenatal care.

Acupuncture Through Each Trimester

First Trimester
The early weeks of pregnancy bring significant hormonal shifts, which can lead to fatigue, nausea, and other discomforts. Many women seek acupuncture during this stage for support with:

  • Morning sickness and nausea

  • Fatigue and low energy

  • Emotional well-being and stress

  • Supporting overall balance during early pregnancy

Second Trimester
As the body continues to change, new symptoms can arise, including musculoskeletal discomforts and digestive changes. Acupuncture may assist with:

  • Aches and pains, including back, hip, and pelvic discomfort

  • Digestive health and appetite changes

  • Energy levels and sleep support

Third Trimester
The final weeks of pregnancy are a time of preparation. Many women use acupuncture for support as they approach birth, including:

  • Encouraging relaxation and well-being

  • Supporting the body in preparation for labor

  • Addressing common discomforts, such as swelling and tension and heartburn

Every treatment is tailored to your needs, providing a supportive and nurturing space throughout your pregnancy. Acupuncture for Pregnancy: Frequency Recommendations

First Trimester: Weekly acupuncture to support the pregnancy and symptoms during these early stages.

Second Trimester: Monthly acupuncture to stay on top of any niggles or imbalances that may arise. Increasing the frequency as needed to support any symptoms.

Third Trimester: Monthly acupuncture until 35weeks when we recommend weekly sessions to support birth preparation and the natural starting of labour.

Induction Acupuncture to Support Labour

We offer induction acupuncture as a supportive treatment for women in the later stages of pregnancy. Acupuncture is used in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) to promote balance and relaxation during this time.

We recommend starting acupuncture sessions from 35 weeks to support overall well-being in preparation for birth, but we welcome women at any stage of pregnancy. Treatments can be used alongside stretch and sweeps or other medical care, working within an integrated approach.

Each session is tailored to your individual needs, providing a gentle and supportive treatment during this important stage of pregnancy.
