Join Kate, a seasoned yoga teacher, Acupuncturist and Chinese Medicine practitioner as we explore the energetics of late summer through yin, yoga and acupuncture.
In Chinese Medicine summer is associated with the Fire Element and the Heart. The gift of the Fire Element is the ability to relate, and thus we experience an outward nature to this season, a desire to connect with others, to feel a part of the greater collective. Before the transition to Autumn, there is a time where the heat of summer lingers but the light begins to fade, this is Late Summer. Late summer is associated with the Earth Element and the Spleen. The gift of the Earth Element is the ability to sustain, this is a season to ground our energy as we collect the year’s harvest and prepare to turn inwards. Late summer can feel like a crossroads- a pull both outward and inward, a reflection in many ways of the human experience and thus a time that invites us to explore the symbiotic relationship between our physical and spiritual experiences.
Two practices will be offered as a part of this series, you are welcome to join for one or both.
Yin + Pins: Bringing together the ancient modalities of yoga and acupuncture, Yin + Pins is a practice to restore harmony in the body, mind and spirit. Beginning with the long-supported holds of our yin practice, we allow the body to begin to release tension, while the energetic channels of Chinese Medicine are gently affected. As the body drops into a deeper state of relaxation during an extended savasana, a gentle acupuncture treatment will be offered. Join us for this 2hr experience to feel nourished on all levels.
